Yes – I know – its been months since a blog post. I literally didn’t document my fall marathon training AT ALL on this blog. I’m a bit disappointed in that – but then I’m not. I’ve realized that its really hard to write about my experiences when I don’t have a goal for it. So, I’ll need to reevaluate what the goal of this Runner Chick space is supposed to be.
But – I’ve been running – and really well – and being completely honest – I bet I can be even better. I’ve got goals with my running and when I plan for them, I am able to achieve them and even exceed. Take my NH marathon for instance. Back in June I printed a hard copy calendar and marked in all the workouts that I’d need for a better than sub-4:31 race (I’d run two other marathons at 4:31 EXACTLY). Planning that far out allowed for me to rework as needed because of life happening this summer – but rather than just a sub-4:31 I hit 4:24. Bettered my goal by six minutes. And I know I can do even better than that.
So what does that have to do with this Runner Chick space? Maybe I need a cue from my running goal setting to jump back into what I want out of this space. Perhaps I need to share wins and losses more consistently to build a realistic picture of what this regular runner’s life looks like. Its tough to put yourself out for others to view/ the good and the bad and open up to their reactions.
For now – I’ll take some advice from the back of my most recent medal from my NH PR – and try to do all things – blogging and running – in balance. Hold me to it if you’d like to hear more about some even bigger goals I’ve got floating in my head.
